Hey There, I Am Carol

I paint, work with bars and host pop-ups.

On paper, those might sound like separate worlds. To me, they are closely connected: through craft, instinct, attention to detail and the wish to create something people can feel.

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents ran a fine art print company, so I grew up surrounded by images, colors and stories. Still, it took me some time to allow myself to make something of my own.

For many years, I worked in high-end hospitality across Salzburg, Barcelona and Stockholm. I was head bartender at Hangar-7, I train future diploma bartenders at WIFI, and I was part of the team at A Bar Called Gemma in Stockholm, which was listed #78 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2021.

Those years shaped me in more ways than one. They taught me how to read a room, how much a single detail can change, how important timing is, and how much meaning can live in a small gesture. Most of all, they showed me how deeply we long for moments that feel real.

Today, all of that finds its way into my work: into paintings that are bold, direct and sometimes a little cheeky; into pop-ups where I bring a bar into a different space for one night; and into my work with bars, where drinks, processes, training and the overall guest experience all come together.

I like things that aren’t too polished. Colors that take up space. Encounters that feel genuine. And places that make you want to stay.

Say hi, I'd love to get to know you.
